Know Why Notre Dame Global Adaptation Index (ND-GAIN) Placed The Philippines in The Lower Middle Among Countries Most Likely to Survive Climate Change

An ND-GAIN international report on climate change adaptation has this to say for the Philippines when it comes to its chances of surviving climate change:

"The low vulnerability score and low readiness score of Philippines places it in the lower-left quadrant of the ND-GAIN Matrix. Relative to other countries, its current vulnerabilities are manageable but improvements in readiness will help it better adapt to future challenges. Philippines is the 85th most vulnerable country and the 70th least ready country."

Using the CPI or Consumer Price Index, MoveHub.com has released a scientific infographic of countries with their cost of living and ranked them from the highest to the lowest. A CPI of 60 means that a country has 40% cheaper living costs compared to New York.

Guess where the Philippines figures when compared to all the countries included in this study. Some of you might be surprised. The result could actually be good for the Philippines as it will make the country attractive for foreign tourists who want to stretch their limited budget.

Top 10 Passers From The November 29-30, 2014 NLE Nursing Board Exam of The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC): What School Replaced UST as The School With Top 1 Examiner?

26,690 nursing graduates participated in the nursing board exam (NLE) in testing centers nationwide: Manila, Baguio City, Laoag, Angeles, Cabanatuan, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and Bacolod.

Interestingly, relatively smaller schools performed well in the last board exams with their graduates figuring in the top ranking passers. Elijah C. Legaspi of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila "topped the topnotchers" this year.

In the May 2014 NLE, there are 64 topnotchers who occupied the Top 10 list with  examiner Ma. Margaret Benosa Sanchez of University of Santo Tomas (UST) getting the top spot with 86.00 percent grade.

Is 2015 The Year We Send The First Filipino Astronaut in Space?

With China's successful robotic lunar landing last year and its plan to send the first Chinese on the Moon, and India's first interplanetary mission putting a satellite into Mars' orbit, is it time for the first Filipino astronaut or "Filipinaut" to fly in space?

Chino Roque, the Filipino selected in the AXE Apollo Space Academy from contestants from 60 countries around the world, has been training since last year in rigid "space-simulation challenges."  He is one of the successful trainees from these countries to fly in space. Space.com reported last year that "the first passenger flights could begin in 2014."

However, it is now 2015 and no report has been heard whether the first flight has already launched. Still, we are still hopeful that finally a Filipino can rightfully say that he conquered space. We will be reporting it here if that momentous event has indeed come to pass.
